The United States celebrated the 235th Independence Day on Fourth of July, 2011 with parades, fireworks, barbecues, concerts and street festivals. Firework displays could be seen in towns and cities across the country, especially in Washington D.C., New York, and Chicago.

On the occasion, US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama invited troops and their families to attend a special barbecue and USO concert on the South Lawn. Obama also thanked the troops for their sacrifices and service in protecting American freedoms.

Along with the White House, American celebrities have different ways to celebrate this event. Many of them, for example, show off their American spirit by wearing Fourth of July outfits.
