It’s very difficult to truly define street style clothing. Even big fashion experts fail on this matter. For the ease, we can say that it is the fashion of streets in which trendy jeans, t-shirts, baseball caps, and sneakers can be seen worn by young people. This style of clothing emerged from California. However, the Japanese were the ones who excelled in this fashion style. Creative and stylish Japanese designers brought about many changes in the colors, and they were also responsible for taking this fashion style on the international stage. With the passage of time, this unique clothing style was adopted by many fashion industries. The fashion industry of UK and Europe, in general, are considered adroit to produce the distinctive and matchless clothes.

The earlier view regarding this fashion trend was that the street style clothing was unsuitable for the female populace.

This idea is utterly wrong. The demands of females in this fashion style are steadily on the rise now. Young women are more conscious of buying different styles in different colors—one shouldered dresses and transparent clothes. Nowadays, the popularity of the skirts is reaching its peak.

 Street style fashion, or more commonly called streetwear, first became a trend in the 80s that was mostly made up of skateboard apparel. It can be defined as a nice mix of the sneaker and the hipster culture with a touch of vintage-style sneakers.

The common misconception of people regarding street stylefashion is some think they are the same with hip hop clothing. This is quite far from the truth. In general, hip hop fashion consists of baggy clothing such as oversized pants that hangs below the waist and extra large shirts.

Street style fashion consists of your basic type of clothing. It is mostly made up of your everyday casual clothing like your normal pair of jeans, shirts and kicks with a personal touch of customization.

Street style clothing was forgotten and ignored, but Japan was the country that adopted this urban fashion until it became huge internationally once again.

Many countries have their own labels. From Japan, it spread to Europe and then over to North America. Many tried to earn respect in the business while neglecting the designs.

This type of clothing is not about following the latest trends or wearing all things you see in the latest magazines. It’s about creating your own look, the look that looks nice on you and really represents who you are as a person. There are people who do not like to be seen wearing the same style as everyone else’s, and I’m definitely one of them. This does not mean I am a helpless fashion slave or someone who has a fondness of rummaging through piles and piles of clothing in a retro fashion store; it’s quite far from it. However, walking down the street and coming across someone with the same distressed shirt you’re wearing. Or worse, seeing a friend having the same hoody as you do looking like toddler twins is a nightmare to me.

Because of this, I started looking for increasingly hard to find clothing boutiques that cater to street style fashion. I poked my nose to smaller town malls, trying to find hidden outlets and even started checking out our local thrift stores to hunt for legitimate retro articles of clothing, which is something I haven’t done in a very long time.

Still, I had a rather difficult time finding the right street style fashion items. Tees, hoodies, kicks and trousers—these were all on my list that was really hard to find.

After wasting a certain amount of time looking, it suddenly hit me. I realized there is a huge market that has not yet been tapped—the Internet! Why haven’t I thought of this before? Suddenly, the coolest and kookiest apparel were available at my fingertips. With a few clicks of the mouse button and relying on my trusty search engine, a whole new world of choices was available to me.  Read more...
